// Good to Know
Signs your hot water needs attention
No hot water at all
A tripped system, failed element or pilot light that won't stay lit — we'll find out which.
Water never gets hot enough
Often a thermostat or, on instant systems, an undersized or faulty unit.
Rusty or discoloured hot water
Usually a corroding tank or a spent anode — a sign the system is near the end.
Water pooling around the tank
A leaking tank rarely recovers; we'll quote a replacement before it fails completely.
Banging or rumbling noises
Sediment build-up in the tank reducing efficiency and shortening its life.
System is 10+ years old
Beyond a decade, replacement is often cheaper than repeated repairs.

Hot Water Systems —
your questions answered
your questions answered
My hot water has stopped — is it a repair or a replacement?
It depends on the system's age and what's failed. A younger system with a faulty element, thermostat or valve is usually worth repairing; an older tank that's leaking or producing rusty water is generally better replaced than patched. We'll diagnose it on site and give you both options honestly where it's a genuine choice.
Can you replace my hot water system the same day?
Often, yes — especially for common gas and electric systems. We carry frequently-needed parts and can source replacement units quickly. If we can't do it the same day we'll tell you when we can and, where possible, get you a temporary fix in the meantime.
What size hot water system do I need?
It comes down to how many people are in the home and your usage patterns. Too small and you run out mid-shower; too big and you pay to heat water you don't use. When we quote a replacement we'll recommend the right capacity for your household so you're not over- or under-sized.
Do you install continuous-flow systems?
Yes. Continuous-flow units heat water on demand and never run out, which suits a lot of households — though they need the right gas and water supply to perform well. We'll let you know whether your home is suited to one before recommending it.
How long should a hot water system last?
As a rule of thumb, most storage systems last around 8–12 years depending on the unit and water quality. Once a system is past a decade, repeated repairs usually cost more over time than a replacement, which is why we factor age into our advice.
Do you offer a warranty on the work?
Yes. Our workmanship is backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty, and any new system carries the manufacturer's own warranty on top. If something we installed isn't right, we come back and fix it.
